Eve

 Women of the Bible
Eve

Scripture References:
Genesis 2 and 3; 2 Corinthians 11:3; 1 Timothy 2:13

Her history:
EVE was the first : woman, wife, mother, grandmother.
She was the first to sin, cry and laugh. She was the first to go through labor.
She was the first woman to be blessed and the first woman to be cursed.

Though she was the first in many ways she was the last of God’s creative acts.

Eve was never a daughter or a sister.

She was created by God in the Garden of Eden and she lived there.

Imagine a Garden designed and planted by God Himself. What thoughts that come to mind as to what this garden was like?

Genesis 2:9 NASB “And out of the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing  to the sight and good for food…” This Garden had everything Eve would need because that is how God works. God always does things in such a way that He gives us all we need and He gives us what is good for us.

“Woman” is more of a generic designation than a name, and is associated with Eve’s relation to Adam, a relation she was created to fulfill. Literally “woman” means “man-ess.” Then both Eve and her husband are called “Adam.” –Herbert Lockyer

Genesis 5:2 NASB “He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man (Lit. Adam) in the day when they were created.”

God made them one   flesh. This helps us understand the equality in God’s eyes of men and women.

Adam named and called her Eve. Genesis 3:20 NASB “Now the man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all the living.”

Genesis 2:22 NASB “And the LORD GOD fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.”

The word “fashioned” in Hebrew is “banah” meaning “to build, rebuild, establish, cause to continue”

God created Eve to cause “Adam” or mankind to continue. He made her so she could bear children and the human race could fill the earth.

Her marriage:
Eve was part of the first marriage that was handpicked by God.

THE KEY to finding the right man is to becoming the right woman.

Press through the temptations to go to your husband first before the Lord and don’t allow your husband to become an idol.

When we look to our husbands to meet our needs we will be left disappointed and unsatisfied.

He created marriage for the purpose of bringing God glory and for it to be a picture of Christ’s union with the Church. (see Ephesians 5:22-33)

Eve was Adam’s jewel. We need to carry ourselves as our husband’s jewel, as his treasure.

Her temptations:
Eve was the first woman to sin! She was the first woman to be tempted. The first to encounter Satan and his lies.

God also put the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Gen 2:9)

“The tree of knowledge of good and evil was designed as a test of obedience. Our first parents had to choose whether to obey God or break His commandments. When they actually ate the forbidden fruit, the consequences of their actions became self-evident. They found themselves in a different relationship to God and to sin. The tree of life was the antidote against disease and bodily decay. Access to it was based upon a proper relationship with God. The real question which faced Adam, Eve and us today is: Which path should be chosen? What kind of relationship do we want with God?” –Key Word Study Bible Explanatory Notes

The lie Satan presented to Eve was that “You will be like God”. Women have more of a natural desire for spiritual things. We need to be aware of this and make sure we are submitting fully to the accuracy of the Word of God.

1 Timothy 2:14 NASB “And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression.”

Eve was tempted to leave the covering of her husband and make a decision without him. We can be tempted to make decisions without our husbands. However, we do not like it when they do that to us! Men and women think differently and we need to run things by our husbands and learn how to make decisions together as one and it will always be the better way.

We learn through Eve’s encounter with the serpent that Satan is: crafty, he questions what God says, he lies about what God says the consequences of sin will be, he mixes the truth in with the lie, he snares us with enticing and convincing words.

Satan doesn’t just know what to say to us, he knows how to say it to us!

Her motherhood:
Eve was the first mother and she had the first son. She was the first to labor and bring into the world a sinner.

Her children were: Cain, Able and Seth and numerous other children.

She is known as the mother of us all.

Life Lesson:
2 Corinthians 11:3 NASB “But I am afraid, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.”

Don’t be deceived by the enemy to be led away from a simple and pure relationship with Jesus!!!!!

Pathway To Intimacy With God

Here are the notes from the Women's Ministry Breakfast March 19th at Calvary Grace Fellowship

           REALIZE YOUR END.
The inevitable end
Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Don’t be deceived
Read Psalm 49:16-20.
The end of every man is death.
When we die we can take nothing with us.
Men praise you when you do well for yourself.

We are only here for a moment
Philippians 3:20 NKJV
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

1 John 2:17 NJKV
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Psalm 39:5 NKJV
Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah

2.      REMOVE EVERY HINDRANCE.

Don’t be entangled
Read Hebrews 12:1-3.
Lay aside every weight and the sin that easily entangles.
Run with endurance the race set before us.
Fix our eyes on Jesus and His example.
Consider Him so you do not lose heart.

We need to LET GO !!!!

Give what is costly to you to God
Read Matthew 26:6-13.
Pour what is costly to you at the feet of Jesus and a fragrant aroma will come out of your life.
When you are mocked and ridiculed about it, let Jesus take care of it.

( Place yourself in her situation)
Now Jesus had entered the heart of the sinful woman. As she poured out her heart to Jesus through prayer and tears of surrender, a sweet aroma filled her home. It became the aroma of life to her. It had the smell of fresh air after a summer rain and it’s residue was like the sun’s reflection on an ocean wave. Little did she know the delightful aroma of her love to Jesus that swelled in her heart and home would be a stench of death to some others. “What’s that awful odor!” they would say. To them, it was an aroma of death, to themselves and to their life of wanton pleasure and wicked living. “Your life could be used of such wonderful things,” they would respond. “To live like the rich and famous, to have a career of noble esteem, don’t waste your life on religious and foolish spiritual ambitions,” they would taunt. But she couldn’t escape. She was bound to the One who set her free. And all that was costly and precious to her, she would pour at His feet.

Walk in the light
Romans 13:12 NKJV
The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

3.      REFINE YOUR HEART.

A greater connection
Matthew 5:8 NKJV
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Read Psalm 24:3-6.
God gives us clean hands and a pure heart.
We have fellowship with Him when we don’t lift up our souls to idols.
Pray and ask God to purify your devotion to Him.

Flee and be free!
2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV
Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

The best way to be purified (sanctified)
Psalm 139:23 NKJV
Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties.

4.      RUN !

Run after God from the CORE

C - Confession - meditate and think on who God is, what He has done and all He has given. Let your mind be still and know that He is God! (Psalm 46:10)

O - Open - pour out to God all that is inside of you in prayer, praise and worship. Let out all of your thoughts, burdens and thanksgivings. (Psalm 62:8)

R - Receive - obtain God’s truth into your inner being. Read it and take it IN!!!! (Colossians 3:16)

E - Encounter -respond in open dialogue to God through His Word! Don’t just know the Bible, know the Author! (Psalm 51:15)
